How do I use xlate?Using xlate is simple:
Select your two languages using the pickers at the bottom
Wait for the app to connect (you'll see "Connected" status)
Press and hold the "Listen" button
Speak clearly into your device's microphone
Release the button when finished
The translation will appear on screen and play automatically
What languages are supported?xlate currently supports translation between these 13 languages:
Arabic
Chinese
English
French
German
Hindi
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish
Turkish
The app automatically detects which language you're speaking and translates to the other selected language.
Why isn't the app connecting?If you see "Connecting" or "Disconnected" status:
Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular data)
Make sure you're not in Airplane Mode
Try closing and reopening the app
Wait a few seconds for the connection to establish
The app isn't hearing me / No translation appearsIf translations aren't working:
Check that microphone permissions are enabled in Settings → xlate → Microphone
Make sure you're speaking clearly and not too quietly
Try speaking in a quieter environment to reduce background noise
Hold the button down while speaking and release when finished
Make sure you've selected two different languages
Can I use xlate offline?No, xlate requires an active internet connection to translate speech. The app uses cloud-based AI translation services to provide accurate, real-time translations.How accurate are the translations?xlate uses advanced AI technology to provide accurate translations. However, translation quality can vary based on:
Clarity of speech
Background noise
Complexity of the phrase
Regional accents or dialects
For best results, speak clearly in a quiet environment and use complete sentences when possible.Can I replay translations?Yes! Tap on any translation in your conversation history to replay the audio. You can also tap on your original speech to replay what you said.Does xlate store my conversations?xlate stores conversations locally on your device for your convenience. Conversations are not sent to external servers except for translation processing. See our Privacy Policy for more details.The app is using too much dataxlate requires internet connectivity to translate speech. To reduce data usage:
Use Wi-Fi when available
Keep translations brief
Close the app when not in use
App crashes or freezesIf the app crashes or becomes unresponsive:
Force close the app (swipe up from bottom and swipe away the app)
Restart your device
Make sure you're running the latest version of iOS
Reinstall the app if problems persist
Audio playback issuesIf you can't hear translations:
Check your device volume
Make sure your device isn't on silent mode
Check if Bluetooth headphones are connected and working
Try disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth devices
Translation seems wrongIf a translation doesn't seem accurate:
Try rephrasing your sentence
Speak more clearly and slowly
Use simpler, more common words
Check that you've selected the correct languages
Some phrases may have multiple valid translations
